031B combining horn: is it possible to improve it? #424

Open Mercury13 opened 1 year ago

Mercury13 commented 1 year ago

Title

Currently combining horn does not stick well

Font

NotoSerif-Regular.ttf

Where the font came from, and when

Site: notofonts.github.io Date: 2023-04-18

Font Version

2.011

OS name and version

W10 22H2, probably all OS

Application name and version

LOo 7.3.2.2, probably all apps

Issue

  1. Write A+031B
  2. Sticks too badly
  3. Even Cambria tries somehow

IMHO, you should not make it really cool, you just…

  1. Make tail a bit longer.
  2. Move it a bit lower to stick to letters’ serifs (rather than stems).
  3. Is it possible to make it spacing w/o losing anchor functionality?
  4. IMHO, that horn should look like oblong dot in Latin small f or capital C rather than comma.
  5. If you make a special anchor for horn, it’d be cool, but IMHO it’s extraneous. Just stick it somehow to MOST letters using COMMON anchors.
