As you have noticed, the Regular and Bold weights of Noto Serif CJK are style-linked, and the same will be applied Noto Sans CJK and Noto Sans Mono CJK as part of the Version 2.000 update, which is likely to be deployed sometime next year.
Thanks.
For daily uses, I use Microsoft Office for presentation, printing and word editing. I have installed all Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese of latest version of Noto Sans CJK, Noto Sans Mono CJK and Noto Serif CJK font family.
In Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, Noto Sans CJK Regular and Bold (also Noto Sans Mono CJK) are seperated as two fonts. Noto Serif CJK Regular and Bold are combined as "Noto Serif CJK SC/TC". The bold version of the Noto Serif CJK can be used by using the bold function in Microsoft Office.
All fonts are working fine in Adobe series. (Photoshop for sample)
I just hope that Noto Sans CJK and Noto Sans Mono CJK can have the same function as Noto Serif CJK, so that the fonts can be used easily without inconvenience. (Meaning that Noto Sans CJK Regular and Bold can be combined as one font "Noto Sans CJK SC/TC"/"Noto Sans Mono CJK SC/TC" in Microsoft Office, and the bold version can be activated using the default bold function in software)
