For non-auto sizes, if it's bigger than the tab area, the player controls disappear off the top or left of the screen, preventing entering auto mode. This is particularly common on high-DPI devices like phones.
It would be better if the size was capped to the auto size, but not sure if the CSS trickery will allow this.
