[Bug]: Dolby Vision recgonized in file but not triggered during playback on Sony A8H series

Problem description

Hi there, I know there seem to have been threads in the past about DV mode not triggering and I am not sure whether my particular issue can be solved or not. I have a 55A8H from Sony that supports DV and Sony notes specifically that it can from USB playback here, but I have been unable to get this to work and I am unsure whether it's a firmware bug after the OS update to Android 10. The software recognizes my rips made with MakeMKV are Dolby Vision files and it triggers HDR10 mode but not DV mode. The behavior was the same on the initial Android10 firmware released last year aside from it not triggering HDR10 mode reliably.
For what it is worth, I have tried just about every app under the sun and none of them trigger DV mode, the internal Sony player, Just Player, VLC, MiXplorer, MX Video Player all only trigger HDR10 if at all. That inclines me to think it's an unfixable issue even though DV as recently as the previous firmware worked and triggered in Paramount+ for example, and it worked last time I watched something on Disney+.

I do have another motherboard from a 66A8H I bought in hopes of it having an Android9 image still present (As the initial Android10 firmware destroyed system performance and completely broke input lag on external inputs. Game mode no longer worked and baseline Input Lag as measured with my tester was 65+ms, going as high as 230+ms depending on the settings. Thankfully the 6.25.2024 firmware update finally fixed it)

Little different issue, but related ... the latest release of Nova Player played DV mkv files on my Sony A8H fine on latest Android TV 10. as DV. I just upgraded to a Sony Bravia 8 running Google TV 12. Same files try to load but just go to a black screen that will not play. If I select the option in Nova to disable DV playback, the file plays fine on the TV, but obviously no DV.

Hello! I got the same problem, if i want to play Dolby Vision i got just a black screen with no sounds. i saw the same problem on Justplayer too not only Nova Video Player(same codecs??) But yeah, if i disabled Dolby Vision from Nova Video Player settings, only HDR10 will works (no Dolby Vision) Maybe ffmpeg 4.4.5 not enough? Kodi uses FFmpeg 6 and 7.0 is on the works https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/24972 And DolbyVision On-the-Fly Profile Conversion For our Android users, a fantastic contribution from quietvoid allows users to convert some less well-supported DV profile types to more well-supported profiles.
