1 year ago The issue you are having with DTS is mostly fixed with recent Android security patches, however, the Mi Box have an old one, what about your Sony TV?
Can you please share the date of the security patches on both?
Problem description
DTS passthrough does not work. Files with DTS sound are converted to 2 channel PCM. I'm testing on SONY and MIBOX - both do not work for DTS. I tried the use external player feature and chose the default tv video player and DTS immediately appeared on the receiver screen so the receiver is not the issue.
Dolby Digital works on SONY and Dolby Digital + is used on the MIBOX using the same YAMAHA receiver - I do not know why.
Forcing the passthrough via the tick-box does not make any difference. Using mode 1 does not work either. Is there any way to pass DTS to the receiver? I tested KODI too, and it converts DTS to Dolby - do not know why, but at least I get a multi-channel sound which is not possible with NOVA.

Play any file with DTS sound via passthrough.
