some more changes to the readme file for easier contribution in the future.

I hope this will be less confusing for anyone to pick up and go with the project

Based on what @RubyNova has written and my previous comment, as long as that is addressed, I think that this can go through as-is.

Just noting here that we will be slowly transitioning this information over to the wiki - not sure how to handle collaboration on that yet, but will 100% take additional readme edits as it affects what goes into the wiki as well :)
