Ability to hide settings icon

When the widget is expanded, could we have an alternative way of accessing the 
settings other than tapping the settings icon?

I'm not sure what to suggest as an alternative at the moment.

Unfortunately this widget isn't built into the framework, so the best viable 
way of accessing settings without the icon is with an additional Launcher 
shortcut, I think...

@chislon — correct, there's no intuitive way to expose settings otherwise

Issue 21 also refers to the settings, I feel that it would be better suited to 
use an icon. 

I was considering suggesting adding an overscroll to the extentions which 
reveals a settings option but this wouldn't work for those who use a smaller 
widget.

The note from issue 117 is valid ... you could certainly just ask the user to 
delete the widget and re-add it to get back to settings, but this would be 
quite tedious, especially for something that requires a bit of personalization. 
I'm exploring more subtle affordances.

@roman.nurik Of course; very understandable. But while it isn't the cleanest 
nor the most ideal solution, it can certainly work if you aren't planning on 
adding a launcher shortcut to get in to settings. Also, seeing as this issue is 
tracked by only 11 people out of the 50,000+ who've downloaded DashClock 
(though I'm not sure how many others have requested it outside of the tracker), 
I wouldn't anticipate it bothering most users :P

My problem is that the settings icon wastes too much real estate and would be 
better to reduce its size and use that space to increase the size of clock or 
center it.

@sukumar All valid points in my opinion and I agree that it does just seem like 
space that could be used in a better way. If your settings weren't remembered 
after deleting the widget, I would understand. But since they are, I see no 
reason why people wouldn't be able to just delete and add the widget again with 
their modified settings.

Is there a particular reason why a launcher shortcut would be bad? Most widgets 
with settings I've used tend to use this method and it works well. Then one can 
hide the launcher icon when done getting things configured. That or maybe using 
a double click or click in the same area to access settings.

Would definetly lika som other way to enter the settings than having it in the 
widget, takes up space that i rather use for other information. Launcher 
shortcut or if i could have the option to show the setting or not. If i choose 
not to show it i would need to remove the widget and replace it to get to 
settings.

I agree with the idea of removing the settings icon. If a launcher icon is not 
available. 

Would a viable solution be for a quick double tap on the clock area for 
settings?

Double touch isn't possible with widgets, but there's a shortcut to settings 
available now that may be enough to access settings. Not removing the settings 
button just yet.

I'd be happy with just being able to "hide" the icon on the lock screen.  I can 
easily remember where the touch-target is if I need to get into the menu.

launched from the launcher.

Love the fact that you can not show the widget for settings and have that as a 
widget somewhere else. But I would really love- love-love to be able to see 6 
widgets in the collapsed view. I understand that in this thread it has been 
said that for some widgets you need more room but maybe it can be done for ones 
that don't need it? 
Also, on my lock screen I am able to scroll down on the widget to see other 
options but on the collapsed one on my home screen (after unlocking) I can see 
3 dots but am not able to see more. I tried swiping,double clicking, even 
putting the small widget on an empty screen, can't seem to be able to do it... 
I own a nexus 4.

Anyway, hope I posted this at the right place because I am kinda new to all 
this and have not started to try and programming anything myself...
