Palaogale ias feminine, so minuta and parvula are correct.

However…

It took me a long time to track down P. parvula. It was originally described by Matthew and Granger (1924) as Bunaelurus parvulus. It has reappeared occasionally in analyses by Meng & McKenna (1998) and Tsubamoto et al. (2004). But, it was in fact synonymized (I think correctly) with Palaeogale sectoria by Lange-Badre & Dashzeveg (1989). So that should be noted in NOW.

To further your work I am attaching an Excel file with the names of 1723 carnivore taxa. This was generated for a database project (submitted to Global Ecology and Biogeography). The names should be correct (although there may remain typos). So these can be checked against the names in NOW.

ReplyDelete Kari Lintulaakso Mar 17, 2023 3:36 PM The latest list should have all info about found/not found taxa.

EditDelete indre.zliobaite Mar 1, 2023 2:11 PM Does Lars list occurrences for those that are NOT FOUND in NOW?

ReplyDelete Kari Lintulaakso Feb 27, 2023 1:44 PM The Excel file attached contains the findings.

EditDelete indre.zliobaite Feb 27, 2023 11:50 AM In Excel or NOW?

ReplyDelete Kari Lintulaakso Feb 21, 2023 4:15 PM There are 68 updates that could be found quite easily (status=UPDATE).

In addition, there are over 400 taxa which were not found from the carnivore taxa list (status=NOT FOUND, the accepted taxa from Lars have no species_id).

Rest are taxa with sp. or indet. or are OK.

Also, depending on which is right, Hyaenidae or Hyanidae, additional updates need to be done.
