The PNG-generation part of the proceedings is one of the slowest parts, particularly when the user has chosen "4x" rendering.

Split the rendering into its own separate async call (probably using setTimeout) so the user can see their diagram changes faster.
Give the user some indication that the PNG render is in progress.
