Fixing detection of mimics by the circle size/color #314

Open Evengard opened 3 years ago

...else it defeats the whole purpose of mimics xD

paperjack93 commented 3 years ago

I thought this was intentional - to give a small warning to players who pay attention

dennwc commented 3 years ago

Same, I assumed it was intentional. I guess we could check in the code. I've seen something special for Mimics there.

As far as I remember, if you didn't have the beast scroll, there would be no hint of circle size / color, no?

Evengard commented 1 year ago

Nope, it have nothing to do with it (although, I kinda do like the idea of a subtle hint like the circle size relying on the beast scroll presence)

I know this is an old issue, but I'll still chime in.

It's stated multiple times by the official strategy guide that if the cursor turns red, it's a Mimic. Although not true in Single-player, and the book never said anything about the SIZE of the circle, I think Westwood intended for Mimics to be distinguishable if you investigated closely enough. Similar to how in D&D, if you rolled an Investigation Check on the chest, you can pick up hints that it's a Mimic.
