I think you are actually running a Windows version on the Steam Deck. Linux version doesn't work natively yet because of libraries version mismatch.
Let's keep this ticket dedicated to installation instructions, while #542 will track native support for Deck.
The opennox-hd does work but I just realized without audio, I tried the windows exe with proton 7.0 and it worked just fine!

Operative System: Steam OS Hardware: Steam Deck OpenNox Version: 1.8.11
When I downloaded the Linux build OpenNox-linux-v1.8.11.tar.gz
Actual result: The tar only contains the opennox and opennox-hd files, If I unpack the tar in the nox game folder, and try to run the game nothing appends on game mode. If I run it in desktop mode > run on console, I see this error: "error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2-2.2.0.so.0: canot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Expected: all files should be included in the release tar.
Workaround: I just downloaded windows and linux release files, and extract them both on the folder, after that opennox-hd works on Game mode.
Maybe this files should be bundle? or it's maybe the fact that I'm running GOG version of Nox with the Heroic Launcher? Either way maybe the quickest fix is just to document how to install it in the Steam deck, even without it I just had to guess that the releases packages should be unpackage in the game folder, I couldn't find "install instructions for dummies" (me)
