Chat with Encounters? #9

Perhaps have a "chat with an encounter" feature where the user could chat with an encounter first, before exchanging contact details. This would be doable on the app, and synced to the web based version.

When both sides "wave" at each other, then the Chat ability is opened up.

I don't like the idea of this, because I imagine it from the perspective of someone who doesn't want to talk to an encounter, but the encounter is messaging them. A little too personal and I think that's what makes the divide between encounters and connections so crucial.

Good point. So are we thinking that if each user "waves" at the other (not just one way wave) then contact information will be exchanged between the two? I probably lost sight of the original idea a bit, hence me going down the "chat" idea path.

Edit: Or, perhaps if both users waved at each other, then a chat can be initiated? Thinking out loud a bit, and feel free to squash the idea of chat entirely

?I agree with Neil. Otherwise, a user could be overwhelmed with messages (especially girls). I also like the idea of "waving" at an encounter. Maybe have a hand as the button you push and it moves in a waving motion when selected. We would want to differentiate ourselves from Tinder, doing something other than "swipes".

Right, which would lead to them becoming a connection, allowing for chat to take place

So basically two users have an encounter, giving the two users the ability to view photo(s) name(optional) and the features to wave or ignore. If a mutual 'wave' takes place, they become a connection, opening up the ability for them to chat and view each others social network accounts info (handles).
