Cannot register user: unexpected status code from user-acl: 500 #356

Trying to sign up as a new npm user, but getting the following error on the web app.

unexpected status code from user-acl: 500
id: wubwub-7-west:2b7c906c-3455-4073-9e5e-3c6082eff8bd

and on command line:

> npm adduser
Username: georgehafiz
Password:
Email: (this IS public) george@hafiz.uk
npm ERR! code E400
npm ERR! Registry returned 400 for PUT on https://registry.npmjs.org/-/user/org.couchdb.user:georgehafiz
