There are some code snippets in the best practices repo for optimizing images and videos. Remember to take a look at ai2html-generated images — those can be huge.

Note for my future self: Copy the images we ultimately pick for footer thumbnails into a separate folder and size them down further. They don't get picked up by the lazy-loader, I don't think, plus there's no real reason to embed larger versions of them.
