The app is using the 0.2 version of Aframe library for WebVR support, which does not support the WebVR 1.0 API. Consequently while working for Cardboard it does not work in the GearVR or PC-based systems such as the Oculus Rift & HTC Vive. The Aframe team is getting very close (~a week or two) to shipping version 0.3 with updated support which would be a more or less drop in replacement that would work across all devices.
