good example of contextual share tools:

Yeah, that's cool. I was thinking about this again this morning. FWIW, Jacob Ganz said that their Best of 2013 music list performed twice as well this year -- largely, he thinks, because of the share-ability of the images. They had a different promo photo on Twitter almost every day:

I'm really into the idea of populating Tweets with a photo + WOLF FACT + link to project.
I want to analyze the metrics on where most visitors were coming from, but, case in point: Dec. 2012: 276,384 views Dec. 2013: 478,170 views
Are the images shareable? Or did music manually share a new one each day?
Music team did it manually. Would have been even cooler if the albums/photos were shareable as pieces, but ... Seamus.
Yeah, still it's definitely a big difference in views! I wonder if it's worth launching online when we're ready and then bringing it back to life once the story airs... That would give us more share opportunities!
hey mr @jeremyjbowers can you make our share button work?
Yes! @lindamood had me hold off until we felt sure we were going to use them.
I'm going to need twitter and facebook text for this. Should I ticket up separately?
Ok, cool. Let's hold off on this until tomorrow!

we need share buttons at the bottom of the page and need to discuss the option of contextual share buttons for some images/quotes
