Cue sheet files are usually encoded in a local code page, not UTF-8. For a German (European) system this is most likely ISO-8859.
Currently all non-standard characters are translated to an "X", e.g. "Subway To Sally - Schneekönigin" would show up as "Subway to Sally - Schneek�nigin" in Dolphin or "Subway to Sally - Schneek'$'\366''nigin" as 'ls' output.
The character set should be detected, if possible, and translated to UTF-8.
