Stop depending on 'cl #58

The 'cl package is deprecated and heavy for just `incf'. Another approach would be to require 'cl-lib, but I didn't do that because setq and 1+ is simple and works everywhere.

The highlight-symbol is unmaintaned and these days there's a symbol-overlay mode instead.
