We need a clearer understanding of the potential users of granule-metadata and how they interact with NSIDC. Scenarios known so far:

SIPS (should be completely separate from our team's activities and the use of granule-metgen; can be ignored)
Data Production Team (DPT)
Data providers who give us data files and some sort of pre-met file
Data providers who only deliver data files
LVIS team (may be the same as a user type in the list above)

@lisakaser Please review the Confluence page describing the use cases and let me know if you see sections that need extra clarity.

@juliacollins thanks for describing the use cases in confluence. I think this is enough information to work on the first two use cases. We can come back and refine the remaining use cases later.
