The demo code is reading from Google Sheets. They've used the "Share -> Publish to web" feature to enable application access without authentication (and I think without rate-limiting).

Created a test sheet for this and when you publish you can specify ?output={csv,tsv} or omit ?output to get a webpage. When updating the data, the published page shows changes more-or-less instantly by default (The "Automatically republish when changes are made" setting can be disabled).
