undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass after setting host name #280

Possibly related to #124, which was closed. I am getting this with vagrant-vsphere 1.13.2 and vagrant 2.2.4. This is what I get in my test kichen output:

What would be the best way to go about debugging this?
