Watch out for things immediately following that already insert vertical space, e.g., center
, subquestion
, itemize
, etc. The skip should probably be dropped in these situations to avoid excessive vertical white space.
In fact, even a \\
following the \timeallocation
is bad here, and the resulting vertical space is larger than 0.33\baselineskip
(at least for a subquestion
or other list environment). Of course, adding the skip will probably eliminate the need to explicitly add a \\
at all, but the vertical space still needs to be adjusted somehow.
Some vertical space between the time allocation and the question text provides visual separation and improves readability. A default of
0.33\baselineskip
looks good, but obviously it could be redefined to any value desired.[suggested by Stephen Cranefield]
