Since it is a windows laptop. Had issues with default routes being properly set. Try setting it up as an external client instead and then use the wireguard native app with allowed IPs and DNS

Netclient is deprecated now. Would need to be setup as an external client.

There is a remote client (RAC) that can be downloaded now. Requires the SaaS or using a Pro version of the Self Hosted app
