The RTG configuration I have been using always runs a local command server to relay RTG data to phrtg. This assumes that no one will be running RTG on the "flight" node. Here the flight node and GSE are one and the same, so when running on the GSE, no local command server is required, but if running remotely, we would still want to start the server.
In the really short term, options include:
Just don't start a local command server and never run remotely
Provide two different doit scripts, one for local operation, one for remote
