Certain peripherals don't need to run all the time. Disabling some temporarily could lower idle power consumption which is still high enough to make the device warm after awhile.
The RTC and hardware random number generator only need to run when random numbers are needed
The SDMMC controller and only needs to run when there is database or mass storage activity. It could be disabled after a period of inactivity
