Design vs Research (UX/HCI)
- Design has more power (always a seat at the table) but worse work/life balance.
- Research is the last one consulted but much better hours.
- They bring in research to set timelines AFTER design has done their work of understanding what the interface should be.
Find the new area that's becoming hot. For her, she went into UX Research before it took off so she was ahead of the curve.
Did websites for UC Santa Cruz, Honda, etc. HTML was her first programming language bc she loved WordPerfect.
Says HCI is hot. Esp in the context of HCI for AI/ML.
- Said Google deprioritized anything not AI/ML.
