GM9 Untrimmed Dump: (sadly couldn't dump this one as it shows 0 byte(s))
kitlith commented 6 years ago

So, what happens if you try to dump flash from ntrboot_flasher by treating it as an ak2i?

kuwoh commented 6 years ago

flashcart not supported it says

kuwoh commented 6 years ago

the guy asking for support for the r4i.ndsi.in (Yasserxyz) could also get his flashcart supported (the 2nd one though) since its the same flashcart it seems (1.4.4 firmware updaters seem to also be the same) https://github.com/kitling/flashcart_core/issues/48

BellezaEmporium commented 6 years ago

.ndsi.in... Same as issue 48 I agree. But the PCB isn't like the other one : Not a SST flashchip.

The other with 0 files is the same as @kuwoh . No doubt @kitling there is a clone. Might be a DSTT clone.

However, LinfoxDomain possess the kernel and firmware for this flashcard : https://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ at Other Clones and Fakes : GEi DS (ge.ndsi.in)

http://www.ge.ndsi.in/ is still available as of today. But going to other parts of the site returns us a 404.

kuwoh commented 6 years ago

the r4i.ndsi.in also returns 404 when going to other parts so they probably must be only one company or something

Tcm0 commented 6 years ago

The GEi uses YSMenu as main kernel. The later "plus" variant also has some wood/akaio like kernel (says "gei + v2.1" as version).

Hello. I know it has been a year now since this thread had it last reply and I'm really sorry, I'm new and I don't know if I should open a new thread or reply here.

So... the thing is that I have this flashcart, and it's bricked because of a bad update (it hangs my 3DS and I tried it on a DS Lite and it hangs too). And I need the firmware backup (.BIN) so I can flash the chip with my CH341A programmer, and revive my flashcart. If anyone have it, please post it.

BellezaEmporium commented 5 years ago

@alvyrage , try this : https://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/dl.php/GEi_firmware_v1.4.1.rar

Thank you but I need the .BIN firmware not the .NDS since my flashcart won't load. I also tried loading the .NDS on a DSLite with another flashcart and swapping it with my GEi flashcart, but it doesn't update. That's why I need the .BIN to flash it with the programmer. :(

I'll see if I can't grab the FW out if this for you later

Thank you very much!!! Btw... how will you grab it?

pixel-stuck commented 5 years ago

By reverse engineering the nds

Oh wow... remember I need the Flashcart firmware only. In .BIN format, so I can program it back with the CH341A programmer. :smile_cat:
Thank you again! I'll be waiting your firmware dump :smiley_cat:

pixel-stuck commented 5 years ago

alright, I've got the firmware for this thing, but there's good news and bad news. Good news: the updater has the FW stored in it Bad news: It's just the firmware, as far as I can tell. It's missing the rest of the flash image. That said, reading from flash looks really easy, so we'd just need someone with a good flashcart to grab a dump.

EDIT: Scratch that, looks like I jumped the gun on saying that too soon. it appears the entire firmware is included, just only the relevant parts flashed. So, here: gei_firmware.zip
