Rust for Scientific Software (or not?) #17

Open eteq opened 2 months ago

eteq commented 2 months ago

Rust as a language has had a lot of energy lately in part due to the push for "memory-safe" languages, and in part because it's just a neat language to work with (IMHO). But it's also focused on systems programming, which makes it less immediately attractive to some scientific users who prefer higher-level languages. How should we/should we bridge that gap? Is it really worth thinking about or should we focus on higher-level languages like Python? Discuss.

Session Notes

eteq commented 2 months ago

Should not be scheduled in parallel with #14, as there's a lot of overlap between rust and webassembly.
