Leading a GSoC-focused discussion, maybe the whole trick is to be honest and clear with expectations (even if most of the interns are not sticking around to become regular contributors or maintainers, for a small project just the fact of having an intern is an extra big boost).
Maybe it would be useful in getting details about what worked and what (and why) didn't work for projects.
