I clicked on the search GUI and entered zebra in my title. The first hit was on asian cinema. I understand asian love to eat exotic things, but come on thats racist :_(

As mentioned in the UG, keywords in title and description have a degree of spelling mistake tolerance. In this case, zebra is matched with era (2 levenshtein distance difference). Resulting in all the search entries with era within. The GUI behaves in the exact same way as the CLI. However, if NUS do offer a couse with "zebra" within its title, im sure it will appear in the results as well. In this case, I agree that the search specificity is too low for short words, which can definitely be improved upon.
