add name is restricted to alphanumeric characters and spaces, and it should not be blank. however i am able to execute find abc@ without errors. perhaps find could be restricted as well

In the particular scenario that you tried, "find subway @", "subway @" was interpreted as "subway" and "@" and the strings were searched through the different parameters that the Find Command searches through (as shown in the picture below). Address accepts special characters, thus putting the special character in Find could be valid.
