Display in timetable cuts off long class names #4987

Open nus-se-bot opened 2 years ago

Depending on the timing of the class, the display in the timetable view may cut off the name of the class.

E.g. A class on MON from 08:00 - 08:30 is short, and the name of the class is truncated after just 9 characters.

Team's Response

The fact that the truncation is there shows that truncation is intended way of handling such cases. We also feel that this is requires substantial amount of work to add a feature to solve it, because basic solutions would not work, such as wrapping the text to the next line which will cause the proportion to be very high, thus even if it is accepted it should be out of scope. Additionally, it does not cause much inconvenience as the classes are still displayed on the classes tab, and usually 9 characters would be enough to differentiate the classes on the timetable tab.

Additionally, this is just a 30 minute class slot, which is quite unlikely for tuition classes. The user is also able to identify which class it is based on the class timing.
