Insufficient phone number validation

Steps to reproduce

• attempt to add or edit contact with a phone number that is ridiculously long (like 20 digits)

Expected outcome

• error message to warn the user that the input is erroneous
• validation that is similar to the email input validation

Actual outcome

• contact is successfully added, although this hinders the potential of the app as the user will not know of this error until he needs the number

Reason for NotInScope

We agree that there may not be phone numbers that are 20 digits long, but disallowing phone numbers of any certain length is not absolutely necessary for the application to serve its purpose.

In fact in the addition of the constraint may hinder the user if there is an extreme case of someone needing to type in 30+ digits in any event.

Because applying this additional constraint isn't essential for the application to perform well, and does not increase usability significantly compared to the effort required for implementation and does not prevent a user from inputting a valid phone number, we claim that this is NotInScope.
