Unreasonable constraint on Tutorial Group Naming #5672

Steps to Reproduce

Screenshot 2022-11-11 at 4.39.10 PM.png

Expected

We expect our tutorial groups to be anything (or at least, any combination of letters and numbers). They can begin with L (e.g. CS2100 lab groups) or any other letter too. There's no reason why tutorial groups must begin T and can only have xx where xx are numeric values.

This feature completely neglects the group of users who don't have such nicely formatted tutorial group numbers. For instance, ES2660 has tutorial groups named SGX (for numeric values of X). Other modules have their own conventions, which should have been considered.

It is a High priority bug because if as a user, I cannot even add my own tutorial group name, how do I use the application?

Actual

Tutorial groups other than Txx are rejected by the application.

Team's Response

This is similar to one of the other bugs, where we do agree that more flexibility for naming would be a good thing. However, we don't really think this is a problem of High severity. It feels like a mild inconvenience to just replace SG with T, not a bug with disastrous outcomes that severely hinders any workflow when working with this application.
