Unable to display Table of Contents in my markdown file

I put in the following label:

- Table of Contents
  {:toc}

But the table of contents is not shown on my Github pages, does anyone know how to solve this issue?

could you try without the spacing before {:toc}, so something like:

- Table of Contents
{:toc}

Hello, I've encountered the issue before and typically it requires looking through the entire markdown file and making sure that your formatting is perfect!

Some issues that led me to not have the TOC generated are:

• Incorrect markdown syntaxing:
  • Did not leave space before and after headers or subheaders
  • Did not close or have incorrect html syntaxing

I encountered this problem as well and removing the space before {:toc} solved it just like @Beebeeoii mentioned
