Our team has 2 queries regarding the duplicate bug report grading.
Our team has 1 pair of duplicate bug report, one with low severity and other with high severity. We are certain that they are duplicates, and having accepted the low severity bug report, we subsequently labelled the high severity as a duplicate. In this case, are we penalized according to the highest severity among the duplicates (i.e. high in this case), or the one that we have chosen to accept?
Additionally, in the case the lower severity bug report is accepted, would the tester that reported a high severity get credit for the high severity level or low severity? This is a concern because the tester seemed to have overstated the severity level with unsubstantial arguments for it, and the team would like to respond with an argument for a lower severity level for the high severity bug report even though we have labelled it as a duplicate.
