Phone Number Format

I saw in the DG talking about consideration of limiting number of character to 3 -15 which I assumed that this is meant for recording non SG phone number as well.

case 1: Assuming allowing non SG phone

• I believe that if this is the case then, allowing an optional formatting might be helpful for separating country code and phone number apart from each other. For example, to differentiate (+65)78762134 from 6578762134 (if there is country with 11 digit phone number or some similar cases).

case 2: Only SG phone since all are NUS student

• Restricting to just 9 character might guarantee consistency and accuracy more than allowing arbitrary length or range of number.

Our app actually considers a case 3:

Our app accommodates students and TAs. It is reasonable that TAs can have office landlines which can have variable number lengths. Therefore, we want to accept a variable number length instead of just 8 digit Singaporean phone numbers.
