Unable to add phone numbers of different country code

It would be valid to add a contact detail of a person who holds onto a phone number of a different country code.

This is not allowed in the application and can hinder adding certain groups of people. It can also make identifying the country code difficult if the workaround is to omit the special symbol (+ in this case) and the whitespace between the country code and number. Furthermore, some countries include state/city details in their phone number which makes the problem even more prominent.

Both reports suggest that country codes and hence the '+' symbol should be allowed to be added to phone numbers.
