A counter example to said "impossible occasion in the future" would be as follows:

If I am going on a local staycation with my friends in June, and I have already paid for all the activities, e.g. USS, Movies, Ice Skating etc, all booked beforehand. The date is indeed in the future, yet all the payments have been done before hand. Should I be preventing all these bookings for future activities?

Alternatively, I may not have even paid for any activities, yet I am simply using the application to plan out possible financial expenditures and how much each individual has to pay.

As the issue that was brought up is a non issue, but actually a feature that our application is meant to support, we have decided to reject this bug.
