More user-friendly and intuitive home page. #29

The current home page has some annoying problem. It would cause great confusion to new users.

Current problem:

  1. The header: At this section we have student login and instructor login. However for new student, they cannot find a place to register. The only place to click is the student login and it will direct user to google account authentication. Even though in our case the login and register is the same page, an intuitive way is to have them both.
  2. The center: I'm sure that the picture in the middle is to show important features of the teammates. The problem here is that it is clickable. The user will not know why this picture is clickable, or at least they will expect to see more features in detail. The actual link goes to sign up for instructor which is only a small button on the right. Since the instructor sign up is not a feature of teammates, it shouldn't even appear in the same picture!

The details of the feature: I would like to introduce a more interactive home page. The design is in the attachment. The key point of this design is that we should high light login and register part, in order to let new users use the website from the start, rather than learn and adapt to the website. And also suitable for mobile users.

To be considered when we revamp the whole UI next time. Having a sidebar should be considered carefully as it takes up precious screen estate.
