From Jane Catford:

There are a few things to note with these data:

FYI: Date of biomass and PAR sampling in 2021 is few weeks earlier than the composition survey.

Explanation: I paid someone else to survey the site in December as I was unsure whether I could travel to Australia because of COVID restrictions. I did end up travelling in January. When checking the plots, I noticed multiple errors (multiple missing species, inconsistent % estimates) so I ended up completely redoing the composition survey. I compared my January plot photos with December photos and they looked consistent, so I don’t think the different dates will have a notable impact on the data or interpretation of it.

FYI: Quadrat location for 11B differs between 2016-2019 and 2020-2021

Explanation: Because of COVID, someone else surveyed my site in 2020 and did the biomass samples in 2021. When I arrived to the site in January 2022, I saw that location of quadrat 11B was 1 m east of where it should have been. Unfortunately, I couldn’t move it back to the original location because that location had been sampled for biomass. I considered all options, but decided that best plan was to stick with its new location. So location of quadrat in years 2016 through 2019 differs from its location from 2020 onwards.

Potential action: Clonality

Turns out I did actually compile the clonality info, so I include it in the taxa list here. I can also update my DRAGNet data if you like now. please just let me know (same taxa list as this one).

Action: Plant ID correction for 2016-2020

Thanks to improved floras and better specimens, I discovered over summer that what I thought were small plants/seedlings of Hypericum perforatum are actually plants of Hypericum gramineum. I spent a lot of time distinguishing between the two and am 99% sure that all observations of H. perforatum in the past were actually H. gramineum, so it would be great if you’re able to make this correction for my 2016 through 2020 composition data for nilla.au. Sorry about this mistake. They are tiny plants (and H. perforatum does occur nearby).

Please let me know if you would like me to send you the updated data. Otherwise, I assume you’ll just do a find-replace.

2020 data was uploaded previously with import-nilla-2020

2021 and 2022 uploaded with 'import-nilla-2021-2022.sql'

Fixed Hypericum issue by updating past H. perforatum to H. gramineum.
