TODO/Discuss:

[ ] We use a (rather obscure?) Chinese library for base-58 encoding (github.com/shengdoushi/base58), do we find that OK?
[ ] There are several standards for base-58 (e.g. BTC, IPFS), we need to specify which one we're using
[ ] RFC006 mentions only NIST curves are supported, but the example for the idstring uses Ed25519
