Some quick notes

A chain is LC based. No prevs needed.
Migration can be done by republishing with nodeDID as extra signer.
A new chain may have "holes" due to garbage collection or migration from the old chain.
Transactions with the same LC are still possible and require a CRDT merge when both are a DID Doc update.
Due to parallel TX being possible, a XOR tree per chain is needed.
