Dennis is an active AltSpace user started last Christmas with his GearVR. He likes attend social events and talks to people. Although he thinks VR is mindblowing, he usually use 2D version because it's more stable, easier to communicate and move.
Katie George is a CS grad working on a VR project at the Knight Lab. She thinks it's hard to be social in VR as it's difficult to engage with others. People automatically stay in their own space (without clear sign or indication of social engagement)
Identified Issues
Social experience in VR (AltSpace) needs to be polished. The contradiction between Dennis's positive initial VR experience ("mind-blowing") and the fact he usually use AltSpace in 2D instead of in VR suggest that he has issues with social communication and control on mobile VR platform (GearVR).
Mobile social VR experience is not reliable and smooth. Dennis's GearVR often overheats and offers a poor communication experience.
Dennis thinks GearVR has a bad design of control. He wants something more intuitive to move around in AltSpace like a game controller.
