LibreOffice Writer: No output from screenreader when addding a comment in Writer #11684

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Writer
  2. Write a few words
  3. Move to the "add" Menu and hit Comment.
  4. appearently a windows opens, but nothing is spoken by screenreader

Actual behavior:

Nothing is said by screenreader

Expected behavior:

Screenreader announces what happens and what can be done in the comment window.

Edition Windows 10 Home Version 1909 Operating system build 18363.1016

Does the issue still occur after restarting your computer?

Yes.

Have you tried any other versions of NVDA? If so, please report their behaviors.

No.

If addons are disabled, is your problem still occuring?

Not tested.

Did you try to run the COM registry fixing tool in NVDA menu / tools?

Not tested.

This issue has also been reported to the Document Foundation; see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135439

The issue still exists with NVDA 2020.4 and LibreOffice 7.1.

This is almost fixed in LO 24.8, but the document needs to have more than one paragraph in order for the comment editing area to properly work with NVDA. I also commented on the coresponding bug in LO repository.
