Reported by jkenn337 on 2010-12-11 16:12 Improve ESpeak so it sounds more like eloquence or keynote gold. No matter how I tweek it one of my friends in his 50s agewise says he just doesn't like how espeak sounds. make it more like keynote gold or eloquence, something like that. Or let us use SoftVoice eloquence or DecTalk as included synths in NVDA. enhancement across all operating systems.

Comment 1 by Bernd on 2010-12-11 16:36 Hi Josh, did you read the article "NVDA and ETI-Eloquence: The Situation Explained"? If yes you should know why NVDA can't support Eloquence. And if you have time learn programming then you can write a driver for the other synthesizer you wanted. Sorry but the developers have to do most of the work and can't do anything. If you want to have a better voice vor espeak talk to jonathan and help him to do that. This Project and espeak are developed by less developers so you should help them if you can. Then your wishes would be true in the future.

Comment 2 by geoff on 2010-12-11 20:46 Requests for improvement of Espeak should be filed with the Espeak project. NV Access does not do any development on Espeak, and even if we did, this should still be tracked in the Espeak issue tracker (if there is one).

Inclusion of commercial speech synthesisers in NVDA is not an option due to the cost, apart from any other reason. Changes: Milestone changed from None to None Added labels: invalid State: closed
