Portable copies fail to perform say all with kindle app for windows #15263

Steps to reproduce:

  1. running the latest nvda beta, open the kindle app and load a book.
  2. Press nvda and A to read from the carrot.
  3. nvda stops reading after 1 sentence, requiring nvda + a to be pressed again to continue.

    Actual behavior:

    nvda stops reading after 1 sentence, requiring nvda + a to be pressed again to continue.

Expected behavior:

NVDA logs, crash dumps and other attachments:

System configuration

NVDA installed/portable/running from source: portable.

NVDA version: Version: 2023.2beta1 (2023.2.0.28773)

Windows version: Windows 11

Name and version of other software in use when reproducing the issue:

Kindle version Version: 2.0.0 (70269) Last Updated: 8/5/2023 5:29 PM

Does the issue still occur after restarting your computer?

Have you tried any other versions of NVDA? If so, please report their behaviors.

Most current stable release does not have the issue.

If NVDA add-ons are disabled, is your problem still occurring?

Does the issue still occur after you run the COM Registration Fixing Tool in NVDA's tools menu?

We cannot reproduce this issue with Kindle 2.0.0 using an installed copy, however we can reproduce this with the portable copy.

This is also a problem with the 2023.1 running as a portable copy

Could you indicate one to help to find where/when the bug has been introduced?
