Comment 1 by jteh on 2012-08-31 05:33 Oh. I thought you meant it was saying Taskbar after you loaded the app but not ever reading the app.
You're right; this is just a Windows thing. It focuses the Taskbar while the app is loading and also focuses the Taskbar if an app started from a shortcut key is minimised. Changes: Added labels: cantfix State: closed
Comment 2 by jteh on 2012-08-31 05:34 Btw, the Taskbar really does have focus; it isn't just incorrect reporting. Try pressing the tab key and you'll see it hits the running apps toolbar.
Comment 3 by Brendon22 on 2012-08-31 05:51 Hi, Sorry if you didn't understand me. So why then, didn't it do this in Windows XP? It's just very annoying. That every time you lode your Documents folder and you start a program NVdA reports Taskbar. I understand that NVDA is reporting the right information. But take this. I had a program that I needed to work with every day. And the best screen reader that would work with it is NVDA :). And I needed to boot this program up a lot. And having to press Windows M and then Ault tab is annoying. It would just be nicer if NVDA didn't do this :) And a lot of times when it says taskbar even when loding a program you still have to press Windows M and Ault Tab again. Because NVdA is stuck on the taskbar. But this doesn't happen all the time.

So file a bug with Microsoft. :) If i understand correctly, you're talking about starting NVDA after you start the application. Why not just do it the other way around; i.e. start NVDA first?
Comment 5 by Brendon22 on 2012-08-31 08:21 OK, I could do that. But I was interested to no why doesn't Windows XP. Do this?
Comment 6 by jteh on 2012-08-31 09:05 Oh, I forgot to answer that. :( To be honest, I have no idea. Microsoft just... changed something. It might have something to do with the Aero UI, but that's a wild stab in the dark.
Comment 7 by Brendon22 on 2012-08-31 10:07 Hi, Thanks very much. Just another question is it like that in Windows 8?
Comment 8 by Brendon22 on 2013-06-07 13:26 Hi, For this, I was just wondering if someone could make an NVDA Add-On for this. Just asking! :)
Reported by Brendon22 on 2012-08-31 05:30 Hello, When Loding a program off your desktop. So if I loded MS Word. NVDA reports Taskbar. Before the program comes up. Also this happends when you go into your My Documents Folder/or Your username on Windows 7. Before the folder openeds NVdA says taskbar. Also, if you have IE all ready running and you boot up NVDA. NVDA will not alert you to the fact that a program is in the forground. NVDA will just say taskbar. So I have to go Windows M and Ault tab back to the program before NVDA see's the program in the forground. Using Windows 7 64-Bit. This doesn't happen in Windows XP.
