The best you can do is to create a synthesiser specific speech dictionary and add entries for the abbreviations which are spoken incorrectly, replacing them with spaced letters. Reported by H.D. on 2010-06-14 20:03 The current NVDA release, 2010.1, and the latest snapshots have abbreviation issues that should be changed. For example, the NVDA speaks of "SD" as "South De coda", and, we know, not every instance of "SD" refers to South De coda. Similarly, NVDA says "millimeter" for "mm" when coming across with text denoting "mm/dd/yyyy". Thus, the universal application to fix such issues would be to have NVDA say it as a single letter -- and, the only exception would be wherein there is no conflicting interpretation.
