While it is true that you can not toggle browse and focus mode in OneNote, Microsoft does provide keyboard shortcuts to navigate between notebooks, sections and pages. @dnz3d4c do the list of Keyboard Shortcuts in OneNote for Windows solve this issue for you?
I am very concerned about the progress of this Issue. Microsoft does provide keyboard shortcuts to navigate between notebooks, sections and pages. However, browsing mode support is still needed when reading the main content. EG: Table navigation; Navigate to the title; Navigate to an image...
Is it possible to achieve support for OneNote for uwp?
I switched my note taking tool from MS.Word to OneNote couple of months ago.
OneNote does provide me way better experience of fluent typing and instant saving. The problem however, is that we not only use note taking tools to take our notes, the functionalities of effectively viewing and jumping within our notes, in a clear structure, is the more important for us to better use our notes.
As this issue describes, Quick navigation with single letters provides me such opportunity to better use our notes. -- As we are not taking notes for others to read, I think this issue worths more attention.
It is time for us to enjoy our own notes though ~
@michaelDCurran @CyrilleB79 Can we consider the possibility of implementing this issue?
Issue: Lack of Browse Mode Support in OneNote for NVDA Screen Reader Users Description: As a user of the NVDA screen reader, I am unable to effectively use OneNote due to the lack of support for browse mode. This mode is essential for screen reader users to navigate documents quickly and efficiently using keyboard shortcuts. Current Behavior: • The toggle for browse mode is unavailable in OneNote. • Table navigation is broken, making it difficult to read and understand tabular content. • NVDA loses information about the system caret position, causing disorientation while navigating the document. Expected Behavior: • Browse mode should be available and fully functional in OneNote. • Table navigation should work seamlessly, allowing users to move between cells and rows using keyboard shortcuts. • NVDA should maintain accurate information about the system caret position, ensuring a consistent and intuitive navigation experience. Impact: The lack of browse mode support in OneNote significantly hinders the ability of screen reader users to take notes, review content, and collaborate effectively. This issue is especially problematic for students, professionals, and anyone who relies on OneNote for their daily tasks. Workaround: While Microsoft provides keyboard shortcuts to navigate between notebooks, sections, and pages, these shortcuts do not provide the same level of functionality and flexibility as browse mode. Call to Action: I urge the OneNote team to prioritize the implementation of browse mode support for NVDA screen reader users. This will greatly improve the accessibility and usability of OneNote for a significant number of users who rely on assistive technology.
